France Accuses Russia of Trying to Intimidate European Allies
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said the incident appeared designed to create fear among Kyiv's European partners and undermine their unity.
"These attacks have a very clear objective: to intimidate Europeans, discourage them and, above all, divide them," Barrot told reporters on the sidelines of the European Arctic Summit in Finland.
He noted that the attack took place while Ukraine was hosting a major economic support forum that brought together numerous business leaders and diplomatic representatives from around the world, particularly from Europe.
The incident reportedly involved a privately chartered train traveling from Kyiv toward Poland on Sunday. The train, which was carrying European officials and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was evacuated after a drone attack occurred nearby, according to reports.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas likewise said the incident was intended to frighten Western countries and discourage them from continuing their support for Ukraine.
